Hoppin' John for Good Luck in the New Year



As part of our Colonial Food Project, parents prepared while we watched the traditional southern new year's food Hoppin John.  Students had to "hop" to get their portion and a sweet potato muffin with a coin hidden in one of them.  

Elbow Elves: Daily Meeting Fun

On a new twist to our weekly, if not daily, community building/unity meetings, students were asked to pair up by touching elbows and sharing something that happened over the break.  Next they paired with a different person by touching toes "toe twins" and further shared more news.  Finally they located a third partner touching foreheads ("forehead friends") and described a new year's resolution.

Geography Bee Top Scorers

Sebastian answered 6 of 7 rounds correctly and Brenna got 5 of 7 in our  class geography bee last month.  Sebby went on to place third among all fourth graders.
